What will happen if I do not complete my course of antibiotics after an illness/infection?

Antibiotics should not be taken for every febrile illness, unless there is a suspicion of bacterial infection from clinical and laboratory assessment. For a suspected or proven bacterial infection appropriate antibiotic course as recommended should be completed. Incomplete duration of course may result in recurrences of infections and also is responsible for the growing incidence of antimicrobial resistance.
