JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

To ensure high level of accountability and transparency at Affordable Quality Health.

To ensure timely payments and maintenance of all books of accounts and records to ensure timely and accurate statutory compliance and reporting relating to operations of this project.

REPORTING TO:

The functionary will report into Finance Advisory and Vice President (Global) Finance and Corporate Affairs and work closely with the other team members in Finance. Also, work closely in coordination with the project lead and team in Bhadradri Kothagudem. 

The main functions will include:

Accounting and Reporting

  • Create and maintain grants and projects information in Xero in line with the approved budget of customers.
  • Co-ordinate the internal financial reporting deadlines and requirements for the designated project. This will include planning deadlines, formats for information and consolidation of data to ensure that clients receive reports on a timely basis and to a high level of quality.
  • Expenditure items and that the level of documentation meets their specified requirements.
  • Ensure all costs incurred by Affordable Quality Health are fully recovered according to the agreed budget with the advisory services clients.
  • Closely monitor budget versus actual position on overall project on a monthly basis including follow up with staff and partners as appropriate.
  • Monitor the cash-flow position; including preparation of cash-flow projections for the overall project that he is responsible for, to ensure that the cash on hand is sufficient for planned expenditure. This will include monitoring exchange rates on funds received from clients and any exchange gains/losses incurred where applicable.

Financial Planning, Financial Reporting & Processes

  • Reconcile, on a monthly basis overall project related expenditure and follow-up issues as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the Affordable Quality Health strategic financial planning, annual budget, forecasting and cash flow process, for the project.
  • Coordinate with Funding Agency to ensure preparedness for Donor Audits; and providing requisite support for these audits.
  • Ensure compliance to AQH’s policies/ guidelines and agreements with advisory services clients, across all financial activities
  • Ensure when both projects come to an end they are properly closed, and all procedures are followed.

Compliance and Audit

  • Adhere to timely compliance with all statutory compliance with zero tolerance
  • Audit Coordination with Local Auditors and Closure independently
  • Issuance of Compliance Tracker on regular intervals
  • Prepare agenda papers related to quarterly board meetings and submission to Financial Advisor and Vice President (Global) Finance and Corporate Affairs for their approval.

Other

  • Undertake other responsibilities not outlined above which are commensurate with a role of this nature – including providing cover within the Team – and which have been discussed and agreed with your line manager.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all members of staff and contacts both within and outside the Foundation.
  • Uphold the values, ethics and culture of the organization and be an ambassador of the organization.
  • Ensure gender is effectively mainstreamed within the remit of the post and in line with AQH’s Gender Equality Policy.
  • Become familiar with the AQH Safety Programme and Guidelines for using Visual Display Units. To do everything possible to ensure a healthy and safe working environment, including following instructions and guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

QUALIFICATIONS 

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, commerce, business administration or related field.

A valid professional certification (CA; CPA; etc.) from an accredited accounting institution preferred

EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years of experience in a similar role (financial management, grants management, auditing, budgeting, accounting, etc.) 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities 

Strong interpersonal skills

Knowledge of risk analysis

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Advanced level MS Office skills (particularly MS Excel)

NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT: 

The selected candidate shall be offered a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension, based on continued availability of funding and performance.
