Mr Maulik Chokshi, Deputy Country Director (Technical), ACCESS Health International was invited to a focused panel discussion on health, organized as a part of the “Sustainable Supply Chains India” Conference held in New Delhi on the 23rd of November 2023.
The premiere edition of Sustainable Supply Chains India focused on integrating supply chain management and sustainability to promote environmentally and socially responsible business practices. Discussions focused on innovative strategies for companies to address risks and opportunities within their supply chain cohesively, while also making progress towards sustainability goals.
Mr Chokshi was part of a session titled “Sustainable Health Care Supply Chain- Opportunities and Challenges” and was moderated by Mr Amit Paliwal, Project Director, GIZ India. Mr Chokshi was joined on this panel by eminent speakers including:
Dr Basant Garg, Addl. CEO, NHA (National Health Authority)
Mr Arun Khumbhat, Senior Advisor, Libra Social Research Foundation
Mr Gaurav Agarwal, Co-Founder, Tata 1 mg
Dr Swati Mahajan, Lead- Health Systems Strengthening- South Asia PATH
The event was organised with the idea that pre-COVID disruptions highlighted weaknesses in global supply chains, impacting long-term sustainability, causing financial losses, and affecting lives. To mitigate risks, it became essential to establish a sustainability and resilience framework. This strengthens relationships and benefits the environment, relying on science-based targets and business metrics.
The event was based on three elements of supply chain sustainability (Triple Bottom Line) – People—the social equity bottom line; Planet—the environmental bottom line; Profit—the economic bottom line. The event also saw discussions on supply chains outside of Health, in the fields of Food, Energy, and Mobility.
