ACCESS Health International partners with the University of Hyderabad towards building capacity in public health and healthcare management | INORDER

In what will provide a significant boost to its capacity building initiatives, ACCESS Health International onboarded the prestigious University of Hyderabad in a strategic, institutional partnership for three years towards academic exchange, research collaboration, and policy advocacy in the areas of public health and healthcare management.

The University of Hyderabad and ACCESS Health International, India Country Office entered into a formal Memorandum of Understanding towards capacity building, collaborative research projects and internships, academics and research in actuarial sciences, digital initiatives, and big data analytics in the area of healthcare.

UoH Vice-Chancellor B.J. Rao welcomed the collaboration and encouraged the parties to concentrate on one or two tangible deliverables that will have high impact and be sustainable in future. He was particularly keen on digitising health data efforts and using it to drive policy and program efforts.

Giving an overview of the work of ACCESS Health International, Regional Director South Asia, Dr. Krishna Reddy Nallamalla said touched upon ACCESS Health’s works towards strengthening health systems and its close involvement in national health policies, health finance and economics, health insurance, quality of care, and service delivery models, including the newer digital health initiatives.

The areas of proposed work that have been identified in the MoU include:

  • Academic areas – Capacity building within study programs across schools/centres in the university.
  • Projects – Collaborative research projects and internships at AHI for students as part of the mandatory programs.
  • New initiatives – Academics and Research in actuarial sciences, digital initiatives and big data analytics in the area of health care.

The central university’s School of Medical Sciences and School of Management Studies, will mutually benefit by entering into a formal institutional partnership with ACCESS Health. In-charge registrar Mr. Lokananda Reddy, senior faculty Prof V. Geeta, Prof. Mary Jessica, Prof B.R. Shamanna, Prof Ranjit Kumar Dehury, apart from Dr Uma Aysola and Ms. Lakshmi Shanthi from ACCESS Health were present on the occasion, said a press release.
