Across countries, healthcare services consist of Payer and Provider systems.

Payer systems have further evolved into Public Health Insurance, Social Health Insurance, Community Based Health Insurance, and Private Health Insurance as pre-paid models. And yet, out of pocket payments continue to be the norm in many countries, including India.

Efforts to strengthen payer systems are realized through research, capacity building, and technical support. Empowering people with information, as they navigate complex payer systems, is equally critical.
