Our Genesis
In the early 2000s, Prof. William A. Haseltine traveled to India to explore innovative healthcare models emerging across the country. His focus was on the Hyderabad-based Care group, co-founded by Dr. Soma Raju and Dr. Krishna Reddy. The group was developing a sustainable, people-centered healthcare model focused on three core pillars: quality, affordability, and access.
ACCESS Health International was founded in 2007 to build on the lessons learned from these initiatives and share key insights globally. Starting from the office of Dr. Krishna Reddy, then CEO of Care Hospitals, ACCESS Health quickly became a leader in healthcare innovation.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Ms. Sofi Bergkvist, ACCESS Health undertook several landmark studies across India, addressing primary care, public health insurance (including Arogyashree in Andhra Pradesh), maternal and child health, quality of care, and emergency services. Prof. Haseltine also authored the book Every Second Counts, which highlighted innovative public-private partnerships in emergency care.
ACCESS Health’s research, conducted in collaboration with Indian and international experts and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focused on strengthening India’s health system. This work contributed to NITI Aayog’s influential report, Health System for a New India: Building Blocks and Potential Pathways to Reform.
Building on this legacy, InOrder was established with a singular mission: to secure people’s health through health systems strengthening. The institute continues the vision and passion of its founders, dedicated to improving healthcare delivery and systems globally.
